TUI Airways

TUI hand luggage allowance

On TUI Airways flights you can take one piece of hand luggage up to 55 × 40 × 20 cm and 10 kg, plus a small personal item up to 40 × 30 × 20 cm that goes under the seat in front.

These allowances apply to TUI Airways flights (flight numbers starting TOM or BY). Flights operated by other airlines have different rules.

Check it’s actually a TUI Airways flight

A TUI holiday doesn’t always mean a TUI Airways plane. These allowances only apply when the flight number starts with TOM or BY — you’ll find it on your booking or e-ticket. If another airline operates your flight, its hand luggage rules apply instead; our airline comparison covers the main UK carriers.

What counts as the personal item

TUI’s description: Such as a laptop bag, backpack or handbag; stored under the seat in front. TUI’s luggage page doesn’t state a weight limit for the personal item as a number. As long as it fits the size and goes under the seat, it doesn’t have to be a particular type of bag.

Check your bag against TUI’s sizes

Bag size

Measure the outside of the bag, including wheels, handles and pockets. Any order is fine.

Leave blank if you don’t know.

TUI vs Jet2 for hand luggage

Both include a cabin bag and an under-seat bag as standard, with the same 10 kg weight limit on the cabin bag. The sizes differ: TUI’s cabin bag is 55 × 40 × 20 cm, Jet2’s is 56 × 45 × 25 cm. A case bought for Jet2’s maximum size is too big for TUI on 3 sides. See the Jet2 hand luggage guide.

Sports equipment on TUI

Call TUI as soon as possible on 0203 451 2688 to pre-book it onto your flight. If you don’t pre-book, TUI may refuse to carry it. TUI hasn’t published weight or size limits on the page we checked — ask when you call. The same applies to golf clubs, skis, bikes and other sports kit.
